MELKSHAM Cricket Club celebrated the 2020 and 2021 seasons at their annual presentation evening.
The club reports, “Thank you to The Pilot, Bowerhill, for hosting our annual presentation evening. A fantastic curry buffet followed by awards and a raffle to raise funds for the new practice net.
“The chairman, Gary Burns, gave special thanks to the committee, to Tim for all the fantastic work hedoes at the ground and the hours he puts in, to Steve who has taken on the role of commercial manager and to Debs for her work with the youth, admin and work behind the scenes.
“Two chairman’s awards were also presented on the night. This is an award from the chairman to members who have gone out of their way to do work for the club.
“The award for 2020 went to Rich Bryant. Rich has spent many an hour at the ground helping with the rolling and mowing. He’s been with us at the club the last few years and continues to enjoy county cricket.
“The award for 2021 went to Chris Long. Chris is always at our working days, he took up the role of 2nd XI Club Captain which can be a challenge, he has taken up the role of indoor captain and he has managed the club’s finances during a pandemic.
“And special awards were given to Tom Watling – Wiltshire League Div 8 Bowler of the Year, and Finn Evans – Youth section.”

2020: 1st XI Batsman of the year – Joe Veacock; 1st XI Bowler of the year – Mark Mullis; 1st Players’ player of the year – Matt Lee. 2nd XI Batsman of the year – Ian Doyle; 2nd XI Bowler of the year – Tom Watling; 2nd XI Players’ player of the year – Tom Watling
2021: 1st XI Batsman of the year – Chay Forester; 1st XI Bowler person of the year – Joe Veacock; 1st Players’ player of the year – Liam Merrett; 2nd XI Bats- man of the year – Tony Trot- man; 2nd XI Bowler person of the year – Chris Long; 2nd XI Players’ player of the year – Tom Watling
