TWO Whitley residents have completed a four day rally across Scotland in a ‘banger’ car and raised over £1,500 for charity.
Nick Burton and Dave Hiscock took part in the Two Ball Rally, driving an old car worth no more than £567 covering nearly 1,700 miles across the Scottish highlands.
“We are back from our amazing Banger Rally,” said Nick. “The car never let us down even on the famous Applecross Pass, a 12-mile hair-raising single track road. We have seen some beautiful scenery, castles and lochs along the way.
“We travelled 1,669 miles and have so far raised over £1,500 – a fantastic £932 on the Dorothy House Just Giving Page plus £180.52 on Dorothy House Sponsorship Form, and a further £399 for The British Heart Foundation. Please keep donating!
“We had to buy a car for less than £567, and one of the fun things to do on an event like this is to have a theme for the car!
“It is a bright yellow MG ZR, so after much deliberation with family and friends we have decided to call the team ‘Despicable MG’ from the Despicable Me films – the car was decorated in the Minions theme.
“Myself and Dave were sharing the driving on this epic tour. I am collecting for Dorothy House Hospice in Winsley as its a charity close to our hearts. I have sadly lost my father to cancer and he, along with my father-in-law, my son in law’s parents and close friends all benefited from the professional caring place that it is.”
