MELKSHAM’S teenage racing sensation, Jack Meakin, enjoyed a double podium finish at his first race meeting of the Britcar Trophy 2022 season at the Silverstone GP circuit.
17-year old Jack and his Westbourne Motorsport teammate, 18-year old James Black, celebrated two podium finishes in their class, at the race meeting held earlier this month.
In their first race, the duo came second in their class, and in their second race, they placed third in their class.
About their second race, Jack’s father reports, “After a great first race it was clear to see that they had the pace to win Race Two.
“Jack drove the first half of Race Two. He caught, passed and gapped the class leading Clio and it looked like they would take the win. Jack and James were the first to take the compulsory pitstop and the driver change went well.
“However, shortly after their pit stop a safety car was deployed and this gave all the cars who hadn’t taken their pit stop yet (including their closest challengers) a massive advantage. At that point we knew they could not take the win, but James drove really well to come back from 4th to finish 3rd in class.”
