IT’S set to be another busy year for Melksham Assembly Hall, with a huge variety of live music and exciting entertainment lined up for 2017.
The festive season may be over but there’s a lot to look forward to coming up at the Assembly Hall, and with a huge range of events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Relax and unwind at a Pamper Evening on Friday 20th January from 4.30pm. The Town Hall will be filled with a variety of stalls offering beauty taster sessions, treatments, tarot card readings, mediums and gifts. Why not grab yourself a few treats to take home? Tickets £3 or £5 with a glass of fizz!
Forbidden Nights UK Theatre Tour comes to Melksham on Friday 20th January. Forbidden Nights is regarded as one of the best Male Variety Shows in Europe. Forbidden Nights have burst onto the entertainment scene with a huge buzz surrounding them, bringing a new age of entertainment. Show starts at 7.30pm, tickets £20.
Gerry Cross the Mersey – A Unique Musical Journey starring Gerry and the Pacemakers relives the swinging sixties on Saturday 21st January.
In the early sixties, Gerry and the Pacemakers worked the same Liverpool/Hamburg circuit as the Beatles and many other groups before being signed in 1962 by manager Brian Epstein, as his second group after the Beatles.
The following year, under the direction of producer George Martin, they burst on the scene with three consecutive No.1 hits – ‘How Do You Do It’, ‘I Like It’ and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ – proving themselves serious competitors to the Beatles.
The group disbanded in 1966 but was reformed by Gerry in 1974. They continue to tour the UK and worldwide. Gerry Cross the Mersey is a journey down memory lane with Gerry performing all the great songs from his repertoire interspersed with stories and anecdotes from his days on the road. Tickets cost £21 and the show starts at 8pm.
The Pitmen Poets take the stage on Tuesday 14th February to celebrate the songs, humour, and culture of North East England’s coal mining tradition, bringing together four of the region’s leading champions of its musical heritage. Former Lindisfarne singer and writer Billy Mitchell, songman from London’s West End musical Warhorse, Bob Fox, leading exponent of Tyneside song Benny Graham, and much-covered Folk Awards nominee songwriter Jez Lowe – individually and collectively the Pitmen Poets. Tickets cost £18.
The Smyths are coming to the Assembly Hall on Saturday 18th February. The Smyths are the leading tribute band covering all the music from The Smiths. The Smyths globally renown for their tribute shows which they have performed for over 10 years. Tickets £13 in advance, £15 on the door.
Bob Drury presents… Viva Neil Diamond – celebrating 50 years of hits! on Friday 3rd March.
To celebrate Neil Diamond’s 50 year recording career, the UK’s very own ‘voice of Neil’ Bob Drury (The Neil Diamond Story) presents a brand new one-man stage show simply bursting with Neil Diamond gems! Enjoy once more all the hits including Sweet Caroline, Forever In Blue Jeans, Love on the Rocks, America, Hello Again, Play Me, Beautiful Noise, Song Sung Blue, I’m A Believer, Red Red Wine, and many, many more.
As well as his extensive UK tours Bob Drury has performed Neil Diamond’s songs throughout the world including, in 2015, for the American Neil Diamond Fan Club in Nashville, Tennessee and then in Las Vegas in 2016. Following the success of his shows in the US, Bob is featured in the movie ‘Diamond Mountain’ due for release shortly.
This show is an absolute must see for any Neil Diamond fans. Tickets are £15.
