Following two successful events in 2014, the River Festival and the Food and Drink Festival merging for one Food and River Festival in King George Playing Field in 2015.
Members of the Melksham, Chippenham and Calne branch of the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust have joined members of the Food and Drink Festival Committee to begin plans for the exciting event.
The festival will feature two delicious days in 2015. Saturday 5th September will again be the day of Littlefest, a day of samples, tasters, activities and events in the Littlebrook Centre just outside Waitrose.
Sunday 6th September will be the day that the highly popular Food Festival Fayre takes place in King George V Playing Field, a move from the usual grounds of Melksham House, which enables some exciting river-based activities to be incorporated.
Boat rides and demonstrations on the river will take place among an abundance of stalls selling local hot and cold food, cooking demonstrations, a bouncy castle and face painting for the children, for a day that promises to have something for everyone.
The committee working on Melksham’s first Food and River Festival are really excited about the new arrangement, and would like to welcome new members on to the team. They say that anyone who has an interest in supporting this great event through time, skills, ideas or sponsorship is very welcome to join in.
An additional element to the project this year is that time credits can be awarded for some of the tasks. An hour of time spent volunteering will earn you one time credit which can be spent for an hour of activity at participating establishments in Melksham and across Wiltshire.
