Could you help to make the Melksham community area a cleaner place to live?
Litter picks have been organised for the 5th and 6th March, which will target badly affected areas and volunteers are needed.
Rhys Schell, Melksham community engagement manager said, “There has been a fantastic response already from town and parish councils, residents groups and housing associations, who will be participating in the initiative.
“Food packaging, plastic bottles, takeaway meals and cigarette butts have all contributed to a growing menace that affects our wildlife, streets and countryside.
“Clean for The Queen’ is a campaign to clear up Britain in time for Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday, which will be officially celebrated in June. The campaign was launched by Country Life magazine in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy, in a bid to rally volunteers across the country to clean up their local areas.
“If you have a suggestion on an area that would benefit from a litter pick, would like to organise your own event or would simply like to volunteer to help out, then please get in touch.
“Litter picking equipment can be provided and there is a vast amount of support and information available. Visit www.wiltshire.gov.uk/communityandliving/wiltslegacy.htm
