A MELKSHAM man who was told by doctors that he may never walk again after a horrific car crash, will take part in next weekend’s parkrun to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance – who he says saved his life.
In 2014, Luke Dark was involved in a head-on collision with a truck. As a result of the crash, Luke sustained a traumatic brain injury, leaving him in a coma for six months.
Four years later, Luke is preparing to take part in Melksham’s parkrun – the organised, free weekly 5km run held every Saturday at 9am in King George V playing field.
“I’m excited, but scared at the same time,” said Luke, “I don’t want to fail. I’ve been training hard and I am really excited for the challenge.
“I’m running to prove a point – the doctors said that they thought I would be in a wheelchair for life. I’m looking at it as a challenge – I have to try these things; keep happy and try.
“I want to prove that I can do this and raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance – they saved my life, I wouldn’t be here without them. I owe them my life, so I want to do as much as I can to help them.”
Running alongside him as support next Saturday, 25th August, will be Carrie Jenkins and Nina Hillman from Libra Hair and Beauty on Bath Road.
