Residents are invited to an Information Evening at Spa Medical Centre to learn about available health screenings.
The event will take place on Wednesday 14th May from 7pm to 9pm and will give residents the opportunity to learn about the various health screenings available at the practice on Snowberry Lane and through the wider NHS.
Health screenings aim to identify individuals at risk of specific diseases or conditions before noticeable symptoms develop.
Recent research by the National Institute for Health and Care Research has found that health screenings are effective in improving the prevention of diseases through early detection and timely intervention.
At Spa Medical Centre’s Information Evening, Dr Amy Gately, GP partner, will focus on cancer screening, and advanced practitioner Jade Bailey will give a presentation on diabetes. Patients and their families can learn about the condition and how to manage it.
“In summary, patients will gain knowledge of cancer screening and the range of health screenings available — from routine blood tests and blood pressure checks to cancer screening, MRI/CT scanning and managing diabetes,” explained Nigel Warn, chair of the centre’s Patient Participation Group (PPG), which has organised the event.
“Patients should attend because they will gain an insight into how the practice is run and learn how health screening can play a major role in their health.”
