The Wiltshire Air Ambulance charity has officially rebranded as the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity, reflecting its vital role across both Wiltshire and the city of Bath.
Based at its airbase in Semington, the charity is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a new name and logo. The rebranding aims to better represent the extensive work carried out in the region and strengthen connections with local communities and businesses.
Chief executive David Philpott explained the decision, saying, “Since moving to our airbase in 2018, the charity has responded to more missions in the city of Bath than any other critical care resource.
“Our helicopter can fly to Bath’s city centre and surrounding villages in just four minutes. Over the last two years, Bath has been our second most attended area, and we transfer more patients to the Royal United Hospital in the city than any other hospital.
“As we enter our 35th year, we felt it was only right for the charity’s name to reflect our true operational area. It is important to stress that nothing will change clinically; we will continue to be there for the people of Wiltshire and Bath just as we have done for the last 34 years. Simply put, we now have a name that truly tells our story.”
The charity carried out over 100 missions in Bath during 2024, accounting for 9% of all its emergency callouts.
Critical care paramedic Craig Wilkins, a Bath resident, shared his pride in working for the organisation. He said, “When we are called to incidents, we are dealing with very ill or injured people who are potentially experiencing the worst moment of their lives. The patient is my world; I treat them as if they were a member of my own family.
“Ultimately, we can only do this because of the generosity of the general public and local businesses who provide us with essential funding, and we are so grateful for that support.”
The Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity relies entirely on voluntary donations to continue its lifesaving work.
