A MELKSHAM charity shop is celebrating the success of a ‘makeover’ which attracted even more donations and supporters.
Cats Action Trust North & West Wiltshire completely rebranded the front of its Bath Road premises in December. Changes included new and more prominent signage, together with links to the charity’s social media pages and website.
Since then the Trust has seen a 20% increase in the number of donations brought through the door, as well as increased interest from potential volunteers. Trust chairman Chris Wordley said, “We have been absolutely delighted by the success of this small investment which has clearly made a big difference to our public profile.
“The increase in donations is enabling us to raise even more money for abandoned cats and kittens, funding our network of local foster carers who look after the animals until a new home can be found for them.
“We’ve also been pleased to welcome several new volunteers who want to learn more about the charity’s work and how they can help.
“Not only this, but we’ve also seen a steady increase in the number of people following us on Facebook and Twitter which helps to spread the word about our fundraising events and the animals available for adoption.
“It’s incredibly important that we maintain this momentum and we remain sincerely grateful to all of our supporters who are helping us to protect unwanted and neglected cats and kittens.”
Unlike most other charity shops, Cats Action Trust North & West Wiltshire has no paid retail staff – every worker is a volunteer.
They always welcome donations of good-quality clothes, books, DVDs, CDs, bric-a-brac and accessories, although they ask that donations are not left outside.
The shop is open Monday-Saturday from 10.00am-3.30pm.

Over the last two years the charity has rescued more than 340 cats and kittens, successfully re-homing more than 300. Others stay with carers on a longer-term basis, especially older animals or those with health issues.
