COUNCILLOR Terri Welch has been re-elected as the Mayor of Melksham, following a town meeting last month. She will be aided by her deputy, cllr Pamela Wiltshire.
This will be cllr Welch’s third term as mayor, after serving in 2003 and again in 2014. She is a towncouncillor for Melksham Central Ward and has been on the council for over 20 years.
Cllr Welch said, “I’m pleased to continue working as mayor; it really is an honour to serve Melksham.
“I enjoy representing the town very much, particularly at events outside of Melksham such as civic services.
“I’ve lost track of how long I’ve been a councillor, but Melksham has changed a lot in that time. Both the council and the atmosphere in the town are more relaxed now, and there is a very good community spirit; a lot more people are getting involved and doing things.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the big projects in the town develop – it would be wonderful if planning permission for the canal plans came through in this term.”
