With third placed Melksham hosting second placed Burbage, a competitive game was expected and after winning the toss and deciding to bowl, Melksham got off to a good start with an early wicket.
The Melksham bowlers did a good job of restricting the Burbage top order, with only opener R. Davies (52) able to get any momentum in his innings.
However, Burbage kept wickets in hand and despite only having 101 runs on the board after 30 overs, they cut loose in the last 15 overs to finish on 217. Chris Long and Jack Footner both finishing with 3 wickets each.
Melksham’s chase got off to a steady start with openers Dan Carpenter and Tom Wallis, but when they were out for 20 and 28 respectively, the Melksham top order struggled to go on after getting themselves in and after the middle order collapsed to the tune of 4 wickets for 4 runs, it was all Melksham could do to claw their way to 151 all out.
