MELKSHAM hosted Purton 2’s hoping to keep their recent good form going.
Purton however won the toss and looked to take advantage of both the pitch and windy conditions by bowling first, a decision that the Purton bowlers made sure was the right one.
Melksham got off to a slow start which got worse when J.Dunn was brought on, who promptly tore through Melksham’s batting lineup taking 6 wickets for 23 runs. Melksham managed to scrape to 75 all out after just 23.3 overs, setting up what looked like a simple target for Purton.
Although it was a good day for bowling, Melksham had their backs against the wall in the field and their low total with the bat proved too little to claim the win as Purton comfortably reached the target after only 22 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Captain Rich Hemmings finishing with 4-22 from 9 overs. Melksham look to bounce back next week as they travel to Bathford.
