Residents enjoyed a night of music in the King George V Park when the town hosted a screening of the BBC’s Last Night of the Proms on Saturday 13th September.
At the free event, organised by Melksham Town Council, over 100 people brought their picnic blankets, chairs and flags to enjoy the concert, streamed live on a big screen in the park.
This was the second time the event has been held, following a successful first screening last year.

Melksham’s Mayor Saffi Rabey said, “It was a wonderful evening. It was fantastic to see the community come together and brave the chilly weather to enjoy the magic of Last Night of the Proms in the park. The music was uplifting, the atmosphere was brilliant, and the food stalls and bars added a lovely touch to the whole experience. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.”
The Last Night of the Proms is the finale of the BBC Proms, the annual classical music festival at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Famous for its audience participation, it features a mix of classical works and patriotic favourites such as Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory.
