THE family of Max Lewis, the 19-year-old from Melksham who died in a collision in Forest Lane recently, has thanked all his friends for their love and support.
The collision occurredshortly before 3.00pm on Saturday 15th November on Forest Lane, when a red Citroen Saxo he was travelling in collided with a white Renault Master van.
Wiltshire Police issued the following statement from his family:
“Max’s family would like to thank all his friends for their very kind love and support since he was killed last Saturday afternoon.
“The vigil, flowers and tributes for Max at the crash site over the last few days has been amazing. We are so touched, it has been overwhelming. Our hearts are broken but it is lovely to know that he had so many friends and was so loved by you all.
“We want everyone to be safe and the Police and Highways Agency will be moving the tributes very soon. We would like to say that people who would like to be together or bring their tributes and flowers, are very welcome to go to the fields at Max’s father’s house, Baldham, Seend. ”
Two men arrested
Two men have been arrested following a fatal road traffic collision in Melksham.
An 18 year-old man and a 25 year-old man – both from Melksham – were arrested on the morning of Thursday 20th November on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Both men remain in police custody in Melksham.
Max George Lewis, 19, from Melksham, died in the collision shortly before 3.00pm on Saturday 15th November on Forest Lane when a red Citroen Saxo he was travelling in collided with a white Renault Master van.
The driver of the Saxo – a 22 year-old man from Melksham – was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital. His condition is now described as stable.
Sergeant Barrie Card said, “Following a fantastic response from the public, we have now arrested two men on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
“I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the local community for the information they have provided to Wiltshire Police since this tragic road traffic collision.
“We will now continue to focus our attention on this investigation.”
