MELKSHAM Foodbank has expressed their gratitude to everyone who has donated to them.
The reserves are at a good level following recent harvest festivals in local schools and churches, as well as a surge in donations from across the community.
The Melksham Foodbank is run entirely by volunteers, with nine members in their team. The purpose of the foodbank is to alleviate poverty in the local area by providing food to those who need it and have been recognised by a partner agency as being suitable for a food parcel.
Sue Henderson from Melksham Foodbank said, “We are so grateful to everyone who has kindly donated to us. The schools, churches and many others in the community have been so generous and without them, we wouldn’t be able to provide the service.
“We are very fortunate to have the support of the Melksham family of churches who regularly donate food. We also have collection points at Asda, Sainsbury’s and St Damian’s surgery are a great support to us so we are thankful to them.”
If you feel you are in need of help from the FoodBank then please contact one of the agencies who will be happy to refer you or organise a food parcel for you.
A representative from Melksham Foodbank will be attending a Lifeline drop-in session held at Melksham Baptist Church on Old Broughton Road every Monday. The sessions are an opportunity for anyone to discuss any problems they may have and have a friendly chat. The session is on a weekly basis from 1.30pm-3.30pm.
