MELKSHAM Ladies RFC made their debut last week against Devizes Ladies RFC in their first match since they were formed in February last year.
Team manager, Hannah Berrelly, said, “I am very proud of how the ladies have progressed over the last year of training and proud of how well they played with most of the team never experiencing a game of rugby.
“The new team had the home advantage at Oakfields, but lost 5-39 to Devizes. Melksham demonstrated a strong defence throughout the whole game and proceeded to move forward with attack.
“Melksham’s try came from Chloe Wallington in the second half, who ploughed past five Devizes ladies to score on the left wing.
“Captain for Melksham was Lianne Vokes and Melksham’s players of the match were Kirsty Compton and Charlotte Wellon.”
