MELKSHAM Ladies Rugby have been looking back at the last season – and are excitedly lookin forward to what the next season will bring.
The club reports, “On the 8th September, Melksham Ladies Rugby took out to the pitch in Yeovil, for their first ever experience of playing competitive rugby in a league.
“From this first original experience and the unknown, the ladies really grew confidence, stamina and strength to end the season early with such success.
“We as a team fulfilled every fixture with a full squad being awarded with a bonus point for every game played. Out of the 12 games played, we secured 3 wins against Trojans, Dorchester and Weymouth and and finished the league in 6th position, this included no walkovers! If we had of been able to continue with the sport in March and fulfilled our last 2 games we would have finished the season in 4th position. Unfortunately, this was a situation affecting all teams that couldn’t have been helped.
“We have massively grown over the past 6 months with 35 players committed to the game. The development in ladies playing rugby has really increased for Melksham. Everyone on the team should be extremely proud of their achievements and making history for Melksham Rugby Club.
“Next season is extremely exciting for us, we can start the season with our heads still held high from the last ones achievements. Our main targets for next season is to fulfil all games again, gain new unexperienced and experienced players and continue to enjoy the sport.”
