THIS summer’s Party in the Park is taking shape with organisers saying it will be “bigger and better than before” with some performers already confirmed.
The annual event now in its 15th year, having first started in 1999, takes place on Saturday 12th July the same day as this year’s Melksham Carnival and thousands of revellers are expected to turn out on the day.
Two bands have already been confirmed, the Ray Jones Band, a three-piece rock outfit from Melksham. The band released their debut album ‘the Right Way’ in 2011 which was received well at gigs and has been a success digitally. Last year the band released two live albums ‘Ere’s A LIVE One for Ya’ which features live renditions of original songs and covers. The second one’ The LIVE Way’ features eight live version of song from their debut album.
The AK-Poets have also been confirmed. The band is fronted by singer-songwriter Dave Marx who has previously recorded with the likes of Bruce Springteen’s E Street Band in New York. Described on their website as, “the mighty delicate, acoustic and folk induced; lyrically and melodically explosive, while simultaneously drenched in drama and loud (rock’n’roll) truth.”
Dave said, “According to the Parson’s Nose landlord, we were the best band they’ve ever had!”
Dark Marx has previously worked with all sorts of bands including Swindon punk outfit the Aggravators and working with members of the Waterboys, as well as fronting his own bands, The Coincidence and The Refugees.
Organisers are hoping to build on the success of last year’s Party in the Park and Carnival events. Tom Sangster, chair of the Party in the Park organising committee said of last year’s event, “It was a good day. Everyone has been very positive about the event and the crowds during the evening looked to be having a great time.”
It won’t be just musical acts, there will stalls for hobbies, businesses and groups or club, which are still available and can be booked by contacting
