MELKSHAM’S racing driver Jack Meakin, has been crowned British Champion in the Britcar Trophy Championship.
Jack, just 19, and teammate Rhys Lloyd, won not only won the Clio class but also the overall championship to become Britcar Trophy Champions 2023.
The final round of the Britcar Trophy was held at Donington Park on Sunday 15th October when Jack and Rhys clinched the title.
“I’m super proud of this achievement,” says Jack. “Winning not only the Clio class but the overall championship too proves that myself and Rhys together were the best team on the grid.
“Rhys created a scholarship for me to help progress an up-and-coming driver with the aim of ultimately winning the championship, which is exactly what we did! Racing with Dragon Sport this year has been my most enjoyable season so far and I am really excited to see what the future holds!”
The Britcar Trophy is a National Endurance Championship open to any car that does not reach GT4 or TCR specifications. The Championship has ‘class categories’ which make up a full grid where all competitors race on the track together. Competitors score points against the other cars in their class and also overall in 50-minute races, 2-hour races and a 6-hour race.
Britcar is seen as a step on the ladder towards the British Touring Car Championship and the World Endurance Championship.
