THE Mighty Titans of Bowerhill completed a 100km ultra-marathon last month – and another ‘epic’ challenge is on the way.
Twelve runners – who all train at New Era Fitness in Bowerhill – took part in the ‘Race to the Stones’, running along the Ridgeway, the oldest path in the UK starting at the village of Lewknor in Oxfordshire and finishing at the Avebury Stone Circle. Each runner raised money for a charity close to their hearts.
The Mighty Titans have made a name for themselves in recent years, setting themselves ambitious challenges to raise money for charity.
But according to group leader and owner of New Era Fitness, DJ Hussey, the ultra-marathon was just the warm-up for this year’s main event. He said, “The Race to the Stones is not our main charity event of the year as we have something fun planned for September.”
The mystery event in September will be the fifth challenge event organised by the fitness enthusiasts, who last year ran 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John o’Groats in just over six days, raising £20,000 for Wiltshire Mind.
The previous year the group cycled from London to Paris in the space of three days. So far, the group has raised a total of £32,500 for various charities from the four events. Pictured: The Mighty Titans of Bowerhill
