The weekend of the 1st-2nd of September saw the Superbike Grand National meeting held at Castle Combe, with Melksham competitors in action.
Travis Vince competed in the Dymag 250GP National Championship and N G Cup class on his TZ 250cc Yamaha. Despite machine problems during qualifying and starting from the back of the grid, he made his way up to 17th overall and fourth in the N G Cup class and one place ahead of N G Cup Championship leader Peter Basile on his T Z 250cc Yamaha. His second race saw him finish in 15th overall and fifth in the N G Cup and again one place ahead of Peter Basile in the N G Cup class.
During his third race he again suffered machine problems and had to change gear by hand as he had gear linkage problems, but rode around this and crossed the line in 15th overall and sixth in the N G Cup class, one place behind Peter Basile. Melksham’s Russell Hynes had his best results in his street stocks 700cc races, with a sixth and fifth places.
