A new music festival is coming to Melksham showcasing local talent, with an emphasis on dance music.
The Shambles Festival, which will be held at the King George V Playing Field, on Saturday 20th May from 12 noon to 10pm, is being organised by Melksham DJ, James Wilkins, with the backing of the town council.
“Shambles Festival is a single-day music event that features diverse entertainment combining DJ sets and live music,” said James.
“The festival will feature a dance music stage featuring a variety of DJs in a big-top festival tent.
“There will also be delicious local food stalls by Veli’cious and the Rolling Stoves, a bar located in a marquee serving a range of drinks; and an outdoor festival-decorated seating area, plus full venue lighting and visuals including lasers and CO2 cannons.
“The festival aims to act as an inclusive community event that showcases arts, culture and local talent, with a keen focus on music.
“We have now sold out of the first three tiers of tickets, but remaining tickets are on sale at www.shamblesfestival.co.uk. We’ve got a capacity of 500 and all ticket holders must be aged 18+.
The artists who will be appearing include:
- James Wilkins is a 21-year-old emerging producer and DJ from Melksham and the organiser of Shambles Festival. His eclectic sound resides within UK dance music; blending a multitude of sub-genres with ease including Tech-House, Breaks, and Speed Garage.
- George G-Force learnt his trade playing vinyl in the late ‘90s at free-parties and clubs across Wales and the south-west.
- In a nod to their Italian roots, DJ duo BA2 & Xeek will be making their first-ever festival appearance under the alias Pizza Boys. They’ll be bringing the garage flavours to Shambles in a back-to-back set.
- Other DJs include Skinz B2B Sanli playing a Jungle set; Melksham-raised Sam Wiltshire & Edd Jacomb playing house music: JH playing UK Garage; A Dot playing house; and Menace B2B D-Lux bringing a set fuelled by deep rolling beats and sparse vocal hooks.
