A DEFIBRILLATOR has now been installed at Pathfinder Way, Bowerhill, following a ‘generous’ donation of over £2,000 by a local resident for the equipment.
Last year, Norma Runyeard-Hunt donated the money in memory of her husband, Robert Runyeard-Hunt, describing it as ‘Bob’s Legacy,’ following his death due to a cardiac arrest. It was Norma’s idea to donate money for the defibrillator in the hope, she says, that it will save a life.
“The defibrillator has recently been installed on its post near to the bus stop on Pathfinder Way. It is now registered and has gone live with the South West Ambulance Trust,” says a spokesperson for Melksham Without Parish Council (MWPC).
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Norma Runyeard-Hunt, who kindly donated the money for this defibrillator in memory of her late husband, Robert Runyeard- Hunt.
“In an emergency, please ring 999, where you will be triaged and, if required, will be given directions to the nearest defibrillator. The access code to the defibrillator will then be given to you over the phone. No training is required to use one, as they are all for community access and the device will provide you with all of the instructions you need.”
There are now nine defibrillators located around the parish in the following locations: Pavilion at Bowerhill Sports Field; The Pilot pub, Bowerhill; The New Inn pub, Berryfield; Shaw Village Hall; Whitley Reading Rooms; St Barnabas Church, Beanacre (in the entrance porch); Inside Bowerhill Village Hall; Berryfield Village Hall (on side of building); on the post next to bus stop on Pathfinder Way, Bowerhill.
