PROFFESSIONAL musician Lorraine Mahoney is starting up a new and exciting show choir for ages seven to 25 years old, split into three age groups.
Encore Show Choir will bring young people together to share their love of songs from stage and screen. It will give people a chance to meet like-minded singers and make new friends.
Lorraine, who has been leading choirs for 10 years, said, “It has been quite evident over the last few years that people have found it hard, following on from Covid and lockdowns, to get out and meet new people. Singing is not only good for you, but it is also great to sing with others, have fun and make music together. There will be performance opportunities too, including solos and duets, if people wish to put themselves forward for this.”
Her passion for theatre started at a young age when she took part in festivals, pantomimes, variety shows and amateur dramatics. She has also performed professionally as a soprano soloist in Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Gibraltar, and the United Kingdom.
As a singing teacher for over 30 years, Lorraine’s passion for helping people find their voices is still very evident. She said, “Teaching is something I always wanted to do as a child and I’m very fortunate to be able to teach locally to all ages through Little Voices, my choirs and also at University Wales Trinity Saint David in Cardiff as an advanced singing teacher. I love every second of it.”
Encore Show Choir launches on Monday 15th April in Trowbridge for ages 17 to 25 and for ages seven to 11 years and 12 to 16 years in Semington on Friday 19th April. Full details and registration can be found at www.encorechoir.co.uk or WhatsApp Lorraine on 07730 254122.
