Whether you’re a young person with your first camera or a keen-eyed photographer with years of experience, all are welcome to enter the National Trust’s ‘Love Lacock’ photography competition which is open until 31st August.
With four categories, visitors of all ages can share what makes the abbey, village or surrounding countryside special to them. Young photographers have their own categories: aged 11 and under or 12 to 16 years. Adults can enter under the classifications of either digital or the more traditional film-based photography.
Photographs by 20 finalists will be selected to form an outdoor exhibition in the grounds of Lacock Abbey throughout October 2014. Visitors to the National Trust property will then be able to vote for their favourite photographs and determine the winners of the competition.
The lucky overall winner will receive a VIP Lacock experience for themselves and up to four guests, which includes: peeking behind closed doors on a private tour of the abbey’s attic, an indulgent cream tea in The Stables tea-room, learning about Fox Talbot’s photographic process with the curator of the Fox Talbot Museum and 10% discount in Lacock’s three National Trust shops. The winner of each category will receive a Lacock-themed prize hamper and certificate.
To submit a photograph, send the image (a high resolution .jpeg file of up to 3MB), along with your category and a statement of 50 words or less that captures the feeling behind the image to lovelacock@nationaltrust.org.uk. Entries can be submitted until 31st August 2014.
