A DAZZLING Christmas lights display in Sarum Avenue is in full swing, raising funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The residents had a ‘light up the night’ party on Saturday 2nd December after the town centre’s Big Christmas Lights Switch-on and they have been welcoming the community to view the lights ever since. Around 20 houses in the road are lit up while a special ‘Santa Christmas hut’ has been built on the central grass area. One house has also built a Christmas model railway display.
“Almost all 22 households of Sarum Avenue ‘cul de sac’ attended the ‘light the night’ party and a great time was had by all,” says one of the organisers Kalvin Cantello. “The following night on Sunday 3rd December, Father Christmas and his elves were on duty from 6pm. There was a steady flow of families and cruisers despite the rain. We are very pleased with how the event has gone so far and hopefully we can raise a really good amount for the air ambulance.”
Another resident Terry Weaver, added, “We’re raising funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance because it’s a charity close to a lot of our hearts in Sarum Avenue. My mother was one of the first people to be airlifted by the WAA and if it wasn’t for them, she wouldn’t be here now.”
Father Christmas and his elves can be seen in the street every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the run up to Christmas.
