The third annual pop-up museum event was held at Melksham Assembly Hall last week, themed around the Second World War.
The event, which took place on Thursday 15th May, featured a slideshow of images from Melksham during World War II, alongside items from the association’s archive on display.
The Melksham Remembers book Melksham’s War was available to purchase, the bar was open, and entertainment was provided by the Steeple Belles, who performed two sets of wartime songs.
Coming up, members will enjoy a tour of Keevil Church, presented by Rodney Weaver, with an optional drive to World War II buildings led by Paul Carter Snr, on Thursday 19th June.
On Friday 18th July, the association’s annual trip will be to Milestones Living History Museum in Basingstoke. Chair of the association, Paul Carter, said, “There are a few places left if you want to contact us via the committee or by messaging the website. Priority will be given to members.”
August will be the group’s summer break, with the autumn programme resuming on Thursday 18th September at Melksham Assembly Hall. Paul said, “We will have a talk from RAF Melksham as we commemorate its 80th anniversary, with Rob Cumming.”
The full programme is available on the website: www.melkshamhistoricalassociation.org
