A TEAM of three runners took place in the Chippenham Half Marathon last weekend, raising a combined £540 for Melksham charity Wiltshire Mind.
Chair of the charity Cora Gallagher, her daughter Betty, and Ash Beale, son of chief executive Carolyn, all ran the race.
Cora said, “At Wiltshire Mind we recognise that good mental health and good physical health are important to our wellbeing and this is a way that we can demonstrate this and raise much-needed funds for the charity.
“We all spent the last few months training hard and preparing for the race and raising money for the charity.”
Wiltshire Mind provides six support groups across Wiltshire, a men’s group, two carers’ groups, and one-to-one counselling.
It also provides mental health training for businesses, and telephone support. Wiltshire Mind is a local charity which needs to raise all of its own funds to survive.
Ash Beale said, “Wiltshire Mind does such great work that it was easy to say yes to running the half marathon!
“My friends were very supportive and helped me lots with sponsorship. I think it’s important that young people raise the profile of mental health and encourage people to talk about their mental health, as they would their physical health.”
If you are interested in raising funds for Wiltshire Mind whilst having fun, why not consider taking part in a marathon, skydive or run a fundraising event for the charity?
