Melksham were hosts to the Dorset Dockers team in the first round of the senior men’s vase.
Melksham had a strong first half dominating in the scrum and were performing well against a strong visiting side. Scrum Half Callum Hurn notched up all the home team points, converting his own try and slotting two penalties to take the home team 13-5 up at the half.
The second half saw a reversal of fortunes. Dorset, taking the ascendancy and growing with confidence were rewarded with three more unanswered tries as the home team execution began to falter. Despite last minute rallies to close the gap, Dorset were to take the win 13-20.
