Puplis at St George’s C of E Primary School have buried a special time capsule on their grounds.
The activity saw children fill the capsule with drawings, letters and mementos from daily life in 2025. It was organised in partnership with David Wilson Homes South West – which is currently building new homes off Semington Road – to help capture a snapshot of the present day for future generations.
As part of the celebration, the housebuilder also presented the school with more than £500 worth of books from Usborne Books to its library, to help encourage a lifelong love of reading among the 91 pupils that attend the school from reception up to Year 6.
Tiffany Butcher, principal at St George’s School, said, “This has been such an exciting and meaningful project for the children. Not only have they thought about what’s important to them now, but they’ve also considered what future pupils might like to know.
“The generous donation of books is the cherry on top – we’re incredibly grateful to the team from David Wilson Homes South West for their support.”
Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added, “It was a pleasure to work with St George’s Church of England Primary School on this creative and thoughtful project.
“Education and community are key to what we do, so we’re always proud to support local schools with meaningful contributions such as this.”
