Hallelujah is the word that will be on the lips of the members of the Melksham Choral Society as they prepare for their next concert, which is to be held on 19th December at the United Church and will commence at 7.30pm. Please put this date in your diary, say the choir.
“Handel’s Messiah, is a much loved and popular work, which we enjoy singing and our audiences enjoy listening to it. Our rehearsals commence on Thursday 10th September at the Rachel Fowler Centre at 7.30pm.
“We are a non-audition choir with no age restrictions and are looking for new members, particularly men as we have a shortage. If you have sung this work before and would like to participate or are a complete beginner and would like to have a go, all you have to do is turn up on the 10th September and you will be made welcome.
“There are plenty of excuses of why you cannot come, we have heard them all before. You cannot sing the whole work, neither can the Choral Society on the first night. As every journey starts with the first step, every piece of music starts with the first note and we build from there.
“You have no-one to come with. Nearly all of us have turned up on our own and stayed because of the very warm welcome and the joy of choral singing, which is hard work, but that is offset with plenty of laughter. If you enjoy singing, there is no valid excuse for not joining us. We are a warm friendly group of people, who enjoy singing and making others happy with our concerts.
“Finally, please can we thank the people of Melksham who came to our summer concert. It is lovely to sing to a large and appreciative audience and we hope that you all enjoyed the concert as much as we did.”
