MONEY found at a local recycling centre has been collected and given to charity.
Staff at Bowerhill Recycling Centre, owned by Hills Waste Solutions, have been collecting loose change left on the floor and under the bins. Throughout the year roughly £33 has been collected.
All the staff are from the Melksham area so they wanted to donate the money to a local charity, and they decided the local Foodbank would be perfect. Elaine Mewton, who works at the site said, “If you find a penny the pounds can look after someone else! The whole site team has been involved with the task of collecting pennies and other loose change and are amazed at how much they have found.
Hills have raised the total collected to £100.”
Maureen Vince from Melksham Foodbank said, “We are surprised but delighted to be offered this, it will help towards providing more food and towards running costs.”
The team at Bowerhill plan to start collecting pennies again, so that more can be donated to a good cause.
