MELKSHAM Oak is celebrating success after nervous pupils received their GCSE and A-level results earlier this month.
Over half of Melksham’s GCSE students achieved five or more A* – C grades, and just under 50% of A-level results were a grade B or above.
Headteacher Stephen Clark praised his students’ efforts. He said, “We are very proud once again of our GCSE and A-level results.
“55% of our GCSE students got 5 A*-C grades including English and maths – a figure which shows outstanding progress for this year group and places us firmly once again in the top 25% of schools nationally for progress for the sixth year in succession.
“These totals demonstrate the great performance by our students with the support of parents and teachers, especially in the light of the significant changes made to the exam system in recent years.
“Our 99% pass rate at A-level, and the fact that very nearly half of all grades achieved were at A*-B, are evidence of the year-round hard work of all members of our community.
“These fantastic results continue to demonstrate the progress that we are making towards becoming a great school for Melksham.”
