Melksham’s teenage racing driver Jack Meakin won the two-hour Rowe Britcar Trophy Clio class race at Silverstone GP on Sunday 25th June.
Jack, 18, raced alongside team mate Rhys Lloyd, driving for Rhys’ team, Dragon Sport.
In the morning, they qualified in pole position while the race itself was full of action from start to finish with the high temperatures making it a real test of driver and machine.
Jack said, “Following a successful round three at Oulton Park, we headed into Silverstone confident. We had good pace for the scorching two-hour race. Another pole position proved this, although a tricky start meant we picked up some damage.
“Nevertheless, we continued and relentlessly tried to set consistent lap times. I stayed on track for an hour before handing over to Rhys and collectively we got the job done to finish first in class! Rhys was superb and the team did an amazing job in the pits!
“I’d like to thank everyone for attending, including my family, friends and Dan from my partners HyGym and Mastercharge. We are now leading the championship, so let’s continue this momentum forward!”
