The weekend of the 13th-14th of July saw the fifth round of the N G Road Race championships held at Pembrey in Wales.
After finishing runner-up in the 250cc N G Cup class last season, Broughton Gifford’s Travis Vince was back in the thick of the action on his T Z 250cc Yamaha.
He notched up a third and second places in his first two races, but nearly went one better in his third race. He had a great race long dice with current N G Cup Championship leader Nigel Palmer also on a T Z 250cc Yamaha. The pair changed places all around the circuit but in the closing stages, Vince touched Palmer’s machine but managed to stay on but had to settle for second place. Despite this, Travis set the fastest lap of the race in a time of 1 minute 03.83 seconds and a speed of 82.11 mph.
A former N G Champion who also returned to the grid at this meeting was Melksham’s Steve Lake who took a sixth place in his first Powerbike race and followed this up with a seventh place in his Phoenix Open race on his R1 Yamaha.
