Sat. 3rd Dec. Exmouth 2 – 0 Melksham Town
Town travelled to Exmouth to face a side who have real aspirations of getting into the play offs this season. Town were depleted, with Ralph Graham and Ben Brookes both missing due to accumulating five cautions this season.
In the first half, Melksham were the better side and missed two good chances through Jay Malshanky and top scorer Sam Hendy, and were unfortunate to go in at half time 0 – 0, reports chairman, Darren Perrin.
“To be fair, Exmouth were the better side in the second half and got the three points with two second half strikes. The Town worked hard all afternoon, but just lacked that cutting edge, especially in the second half.
“One real bright spark was the introduction of 18-year-old Tom Dowell, who made his Southern League debut, and showed once again that the club will continue to offer the pathway to the younger players coming through our very successful youth section.”
Town are at home to title favourites and big spending, AFC Totton this coming Saturday ko at 1pm (early ko because of the England France World Cup Quarter Final), followed by a trip to Slimbridge on the 17th December, and by home fixture on Boxing Day against Frome Town. Kick off at 3pm.
Town have been drawn at home to Laverstock and Ford in the quarter-final of the Wiltshire Premier Shield. This game is likely to take place on Tuesday 10th January with a 7.45pm kick off.
