Melksham Town FC’s grounds team has been crowned the ‘Grounds Team of the Year’ at the Wiltshire FA & McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards.
An awards ceremony was held last week at Swindon Town football ground. Volunteer groundsman, Freddy Clark, collected the award on behalf of head groundsman Paul Brickley and the rest of the grounds team.
There was also success for volunteer Mick Miller, who was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ category.
Chairman of Melksham Town FC, Darren Perrin, said, “We are delighted! Paul Brickley and the grounds team totally deserve this award – our pitch is without doubt the best in the Southern League. And Mick is one of many volunteers who do such a sterling job for the club. We couldn’t run the club without them.”
