THE Unicorn has reopened with new owners who have big plans to restore the pub to former glories.
Michael Haigh and Daniel Grace are the new landlords at the once thriving pub and they have already taken positive steps in the few weeks that they have been open as good numbers of people have returned to the pub which has already been treated to a lick of paint and a spring clean.
They have also reintroduced a food menu with breakfast being served from 8am everyday and a regular menu also available all day including a roast on Sunday’s. Cheap drinks promotions have also been launched as the pair hope to attract those after a meal or a drink.
The new landlords are hoping to introduce a vibrant entertainment programme, including plenty of live music, beer festivals and by getting involved in community events. They said, “We decided to take on the Unicorn as we think Melksham is a great town and the pub has a lot of potential. We want people to know that we are open and that we are now a welcoming pub in nicer surroundings with excellent food and cheap drinks. We are also going to bring some energy back to the pub with live music and entertainment being held regularly.
“We are getting involved in the community events also and will have lots going on during the carnival weekend with our very own beer festival. We have also set up a pool and darts team to start the season in September and encourage anyone who wants to join.”
The Unicorn’s beer festival will take place over the weekend of the 12th and 13th July with a selection of beers, ales and ciders available. More details can be found on the Unicorn’s new Facebook page.
