SISTERS-in-law Mikayla Ayliffe and Kayleigh Gullis, from Melksham have raised £10,000 for Cancer Research UK by organising a Valentine’s Charity Ball.
Mikayla and Kayleigh organised the ball on Saturday 16th February at Bromham Social Centre for Cancer Research UK, a charity which is close to their hearts.
Before the event the total raised was around £4,500 from ticket sales but during the evening, raffle tickets were sold for more than 50 prizes ranging from bottles of Prosecco, holidays, beauty treatments, cash and a bungee jump. After the raffle an auction was also held which included Bath Rugby tickets, Tottenham football tickets, a hand carved ash wooden bowl, a painting from a local artist, British Sporting Knights photos signed by Sir Tom Finney and 4x new Avon Tyres worth £400. The total raised by the end of the evening was £9,000!
A Justgiving page was created after the ball to try to hit the £10,000 mark, and within one week this was reached. This was double Mikayla and Kayleigh’s expectation.
Kayleigh said, “Mikayla and I would like to thank everyone for their support and donating raffle/auction prizes and donating to the cause. We could not have done it without everyone.”
The Justgiving page will remain open for one final week if people would still like to contribute to their cause. www.justgiving.com /fundraising/kayleigh-hughes12.
