An awards and celebration evening in the Wiltshire West Scout District was held at the Southwick & North Bradley Scout HQ on Wednesday 4th December, when six awards for merit were presented, including Melksham Scout leader, Jackie Nye.
The award is given for outstanding service of not less than 12 years’ service, together with their dedication and commitment to Scouting over the years.
The district reports, “Jackie has helped guide the Melksham Scout Group over many years. She is currently a group sectional assistant and the group treasurer. The group numbers have always remained healthy, which is a testament to the quality of the programme and the continuous hard work she has put into the running of the group.
“Her contribution to Scouting in Melksham has been invaluable and her dedication and commitment over the years and tirelessly assisting with the fundraising for the group has facilitated improvements and an update to their headquarters so that the group can thrive. Their headquarters over the last year has had a makeover and Jacqueline has been one of the driving forces behind this and has put in many hours of work to assist with the project.
“Jackie is also a training advisor, a job that she undertakes with her relentless dedication, commitment and capability to ensure that the Leaders within the group are fully trained in order to offer the best that Scouting can provide to young people in the area.
“Refreshments were served by the district team. The event was hosted by District Commissioner, Chris Broom, She thanked everyone and said it is a privilege to work alongside you all.”
