Sun. 12th January. WOMEN’S NC 2 SOUTH WEST Trojan Ladies II 34 Melksham Ladies 39
Melksham Ladies won their first away game of the season against Trojan Ladies II on 12th January, winning 39-34.
The conditions were less than ideal, alternating blinding sunshine and pouring rain, but each team played their best rugby, making it a very close match. Trojans were in the lead at half time at 22-12, but Melksham managed to bring home the win in the last 5 minutes.
Trojan Ladies managed to score 6 tries, scored by Chloe Smith and Charlotte Punter at 2 tries apiece and Penelope Prockter and Bronwen Smith scoring 1 each. Melksham’s try scorers were Candice Walters (2 tries), Faye George (2 tries) and Kirsty Hemming (3 tries). Ashlea Forgacs also scored her first conversion of season for Melksham.
Melksham Ladies coach, Hannah Berrelly said, “Today’s game has really shown the progression and passion of our newly-developed team in a competitive league. When we had 5 minutes to spare and being 2 points down, it showed the determination to take the away win, which we did. I couldn’t be any prouder of the ladies. I look forward to developing our skill set further!”
Melksham Ladies train at Melksham Rugby Football Club every Wednesday 7-8.30pm.
