This year’s Britcar Trophy series started with Melksham’s racing driver Jack Meakin taking home a win, alongside fellow driver and team owner Rhys Lloyd.
The first round was held at Silverstone on Saturday 25th March. Jack’s father, Andy Meakin said, “In November last year, Jack won Dragon Sport’s Scholarship, the prize was a fully supported drive in the team’s Renault Clio Cup car, alongside team owner Rhys Lloyd in the 2023 Britcar Trophy series.
“They won the opening race of the year for their class! Both Jack and Rhys were very fast all weekend and nearly walked away with a double win, but dropped positions through no fault of their own when a safety car was deployed during their pit stop/ driver change. Jack had the fastest lap in qualifying in Race one and race two!
“This is a very good start to the season for them and next they are racing at Brands Hatch on Sunday 23rd April.”
Jack said, “Since winning the Dragon Sport Scholarship back in November, I have been super excited to race with the team. Following some very productive pre-season testing, it was amazing to finally start the season.
“Rhys was rapid and the team have been excellent, very organised and professional and our pace was really strong. I’m looking forward to the upcoming races and keep an eye out for myself and Rhys as the season progresses.”
