TOWN councillor, Sue Brown, is inviting residents of George Ward Gardens on Bath Road to share their feedback about the housing estate.
Cllr Brown, who was elected to the town council in February this year for the Melksham North area, also wants to explore the possibility of creating a residents’ association, to help bring the community together.
Previous visits by the councillor to meet residents has raised concerns regarding garden flooding, parking on Dunch Lane near the play area, litter picking, traffic speed limits on Bath Road, and the overall maintenance of the area, which is managed by Persimmon Homes who built the housing estate.
To help her identify and prioritise the main issues for George Ward Gardens residents, cllr Brown is wanting to hear more from people in the area.
Talking to Melksham News, cllr Brown explained, “Speaking to some of the residents it felt like there is some uncertainty surrounding the management company for the estate. Residents are paying around £140 a year for maintenance, but not much is being done.
“For example, Persimmon has contracted someone to do litter picking in the area, but it appears that this is ineffective and not much is being done.
“Therefore, I am particularly keen to receive feedback and concerns from the residents – I want to gather views as there really does seem to be a feeling of discontent in the area.
“I will try to tackle these issues one by one, but forming a residents’ association for George Ward Gardens might be one way to help come up with solutions to these problems – and that’s something I am happy to help create and support.”
Cllr Brown also said that she intends to work with Persimmon Homes, Wiltshire Council, Melksham Town Council and other organisations to help try and resolve any problems that are raised.
