The battle of the bottom two sides in the division turned out to be a one-sided affair. Churches won the toss and, unsurprisingly, decided to bat on a hot afternoon.
Their opening batsmen made steady progress but didn’t look in any trouble until they lost their first wicket in the 19th over with the score on 75. Martin bowled by Tim Carpenter for 33.
Hunt joined Runkel and they continued to make steady progress while riding their luck at times. Runkel departed for 80 in the 37th over with the SUC on 168.
Brooks was next to go for 19 as the visitors innings closed on 230/3 off 45 overs with Hunt 79*. Disappointingly for the home side 50 runs coming off the last five overs.
BMCC innings followed the pattern of many innings this season, with batsmen playing too many shots instead of patiently building an innings.
Pete Hayward with 57, Matt Hunt (21) and Tim Carpenter (10) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as the home side were all out for 126 in the 30th over.
