ABC Nursery in Bowerhill has recently welcomed a new member to the team, Rebecca Humphries nursery manager, who is looking forward to plans and changes at the nursery.
ABC Nursery operates 52 weeks of the year and can accommodate up to 49 children from babies to pre-school age and has strong links to the primary schools in the area which it feeds into.
Rebecca said, “The nursery is an exciting, non corporate little gem with dedicated and hardworking staff always prepared to go above and beyond fostering excellent relationships with parents, allowing children to reach their maximum potential. I have been singularly impressed with the spacious garden and outside space which we have plans to take forward, incorporating a Forest School style of teaching engendering respect and a commitment to ecological issues.
“The children follow all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage – a tool to observe, assess and plan for children’s development in 7 key areas of development; personal, social, emotional, communication, language, physical, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive art.
“Children join individual rooms – Ladybirds, Caterpillars, Butterflies and Bees depending on their age and are all allocated a well qualified key worker, whose role is to work in partnership with parents to guarantee the best outcome for each child.
“The environment is light, bright and cosy for stimulating child-led play opportunities based on their individual interests, yet incorporates quiet areas and spaces for children to rest and reflect and operates a free flow (inside and out) style of play, permitting children to learn whilst playing and having fun.
