TWO players from the Melksham Stags Mixed Ability Rugby team have been selected to play in an international mixed ability team, with players and coaches from countries around Europe.
Jarret Smith and Ben Norris will join the Mixed Ability Rugby Invitational Club, to play in Belgium on 1st April.
Lead coach of Melksham Mixed Ability Rugby team Jeremy Fowler said, “Melksham Stags are very proud to announce that two of our players have been selected to play for the international mixed ability Maris team for a showcase game in Hasslet, Belgium on the weekend of 1st April.
“Both Jarrett and Ben have been part of Melksham stags since the beginning and are integral parts of our group; they both work effortlessly on and off the pitch and have really bought in to the mixed ability ethos. I know I speak for all Stags by wishing them all the best, it really will be an experience to cherish.”
Jarrett who plays scrum half in the Melksham Stags team said, “This is a huge achievement and a once in a lifetime opportunity. We’ll meet the other players the night before in the hotel, where we’ll have a team building session and get to know the other people we are actually playing with. I am really looking forward to it.”
Ben who plays prop forward said, “It has been honour to be selected to play in Belgium, I am really looking forward to it and meeting the other players. We all have the sport in common and it will be really good. I started playing rugby after school and then had a knee injury, I then returned and mixed ability rugby started and so I could join in with this team because of the reduced level of contact. It’s going to be great in Belgium!”
